The consequences of an immune system out of balance can be disastrous—debilitating respiratory, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Our scientists have built one of the richest, most diverse immunomodulatory portfolios in the industry, focused on conditions from asthma and lupus to multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
We’re on a perpetual mission toward understanding immune-mediated inflammatory diseases at the cellular and molecular level, and exploring novel pathways and therapeutics for respiratory conditions. Our current investigations focus on conditions from asthma, COPD and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, to lupus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.
Understanding the cell populations that drive disease offer us the ability to study human disease where it happens. This deep profiling helps us to uncover important pathways and mechanisms, ultimately giving us the knowledge we need to design and develop customized therapies.
Understanding our patient populations is essential for developing successful therapies. This is particularly true for heterogenous conditions such as asthma, lupus and COPD, among others. Techniques that include systems immunology help us to customize therapies to the molecular needs of patients.
MS occurs when oligodendrocytes fail in their work of remyelination. New imaging techniques are helping us to understand more about the mechanisms of myelination—including what goes wrong. As we scrutinize these steps, we’re arming ourselves with information that may help us to manipulate them at the cellular level, thus improving the efficiency of myelination.
