AstraZeneca/MedImmune Supplier Diversity Program strives to promote small business development and provide opportunities for qualified small and diverse businesses that can support our long-term growth objectives and add value to our business. Such targeted businesses include small, small-disadvantaged, woman-owned, veteran-owned, disabled-veteran-owned, historically black colleges and minority institutions, HubZone and other diverse business enterprises. Small/diverse suppliers provide unique value in driving our innovative business solutions and competitive advantage, and we are committed to expanding opportunities for them to work with us.
Commitment to Supplier Diversity
Supplier diversity is an integral part of AstraZeneca/MedImmune’s corporate Diversity & Inclusion strategy and is a key component of our procurement process. It’s our policy to promote and provide opportunities for small/diverse businesses while ensuring the best value products and services to support our enterprise activities.
Engaging Small and Diverse Suppliers
All our suppliers must meet the same global quality and ethical standards in order to win work with AstraZeneca/MedImmune, so our supplier diversity programme helps small businesses understand our requirements and build their capabilities. In the US, we partner with organizations that represent small/diverse businesses to provide targeted training, mentoring and coaching to their members and, where appropriate, introduce these businesses to our Procurement team. We also encourage small businesses to work together to strengthen their capabilities and meet the requirements of contracts that would otherwise be too big for them to take on alone. In other regions of the world we adopt a targeted approach to supplier diversity taking into account the local environment as well as our own business needs.
We seek small and diverse business enterprises that demonstrate the following:
- Core competencies that provide added value and align with our needs
- Unique value proposition
- Innovation, creativity, and expertise
- Excellent past performance
- Quality, transparency and flexibility
- An understanding of the federal acquisition process
- Financial stability and ability to demonstrate sustainability
We encourage all small and diverse suppliers that provide innovative solutions and can support our long-term growth objectives to register their interest in conducting business with AstraZeneca/MedImmune.
